Called - September Retreat Day
CALLED — Monthly Retreat Day for Catholic Young Adults
Called Retreat Days are held on the first Saturday of each month (9.00am–3.00pm) at Whānau Māria Centre, Ponsonby, Auckland for Young Adults 18-30 years of age.
In September we’re doing something a bit different. We are going to spend a day with St John of the Cross who is famous for getting deep and clear about who we really are, what we may need to let go of, and how to grow deeper in prayer.
Fr Frank Bird guides this retreat day and helps create a prayerful space to enter into silence, pray with scripture, experience the sacraments, and listen more deeply to God.
We won’t put a limit on the places available for this month but CALLED is intentionally small, creating a safe and supportive environment for reflection, silence, prayer, and faith-sharing.
What the day includes 9.00-3.00pm:
Welcome and Introduction to simple prayer and reflective practices
Quiet prayer before the Blessed Sacrament
1st Session: Who Am I - Listen to John of the Cross and his creative way of helping us to know we are made for God not for lots of created ‘stuff’.
2nd Session: What Am I Attached To? Listen to John of the Cross use the image of 4 Horses and 7 Deadly Sins to help us reflect on what we are often chasing after.
Lunch and relaxed reflection time
3rd Session: How Can I Grow My Prayer Life? Listen to John share about the journey up the mountain toward God and some of the images that describe the deeper prayer life.
